Finnish higher education
The Finnish higher education system consists of universities and universities of applied sciences.
Universities of applied sciences (UAS for short) offer professionally oriented higher education on bachelor’s and master’s levels and have strong ties with working life and regional development. According to our name Centria University of Applied Sciences, we are one of the 24 UASs in Finland.

Tuition fees for those granted temporary protection
Students who have been granted temporary protection are not obliged to pay the tuition fee in the academic year 2025-2026. The Council of the European Union has adopted a decision to extend the Temporary Protection Directive until March 2026. Temporary protection provides immediate and collective protection to a large group of displaced persons from non-EU countries who arrive in the EU and who are not in a position to return to their country of origin.
Temporary protection continues until 4 March 2026 for the following groups:
- All Ukrainian citizens and their family members.
- Third-country nationals who hold a permanent residence permit in Ukraine.
- Third-country nationals who hold a residence permit on the basis of international protection in Ukraine. Their family members will continue to receive temporary protection, too.
For third-country nationals who have been residing in Ukraine with a temporary residence permit and who are not family members of Ukrainian citizens, the residence permit for temporary protection will expire. For more information on the expiry of the permits, see Expiry of certain residence permits for temporary protection on this page.
