Pär Moberg, saxophonist and director of the Folk Music and World Music programmes at Malmö University, will visit Kokkola as a part of his stay gets to know the ICH North cultural heritage project. Bring your instrument and come jam along with Centria music students and Moberg!
Pär Moberg is the course director of the Folk and World music educations at the Academy of Music in Malmö, Sweden. His main instrument is saxophone, but he frequently also uses other wind instruments and sings. With his roots in the traditional music of the Skåne region, he’s also worked extensively with Klezmer and Balkan music, Arabic music, Indian music and more.
The ICH North project promotes cross-border music heritage activities in Northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and Sapmi. The project is funded by the EU Interreg Aurora program and the Finnish national contribution by the Lapland Regional Council (Lapinliito). The project includes the development of an online course, a digital map and learning materials. It will also promote the combination of intangible cultural heritage and entrepreneurship, as well as community participation in the preservation of musical heritage in archives.
