Pedagogical Guidelines
Centria University of Applied Sciences’s pedagogical guidelines serve as a compass through which we ensure both the quality of teaching and the continuous development of student learning.
The aim of these guidelines is to strengthen student learning, support teachers in their work, and ensure that Centria graduates skilled and adaptable professionals ready for working life.
The pedagogical themes that are important to Centria are structured into four elements. In addition, the student’s role as a learner and active participant is described:
- A Meaningful Learning Experience – learning that inspires, provides clear goals, and offers opportunities for success and insight.
- Developing into an Expert – building strong professional competence, with the teacher acting as a coach and mentor.
- Working-Life Orientation – learning in close cooperation with regional, national, and international partners.
- Community – everyday life in which we care about one another, learn together, and create a safe learning environment.
- The Student as an Active Agent – the student builds their own competence and grows into a capable, adaptable professional within a supported learning environment.

All elements are connected by the idea of a sustainable degree – a competence base that supports the student throughout their career and in a changing world.
