OptiWood – Optimization of wood industry processes in Northern Ostrobothnia

OptiWood -project focuses on researching and testing measurement and optimization technologies suitable for the wood production industry, artificial intelligence and analyzation tools used in process optimization, management and quality control.

The selected technologies will be tested in laboratory conditions (Smart Wood Lab) and their suitability will be assessed in pilot project carried out in cooperation with companies. In practice, this means improving the controllability of processes and the predictability of production, as well as optimizing the consumption of raw materials.

The project will respond to the current challenges of companies in the wood industry in an innovative and sustainable way and promote the development of the region. At the same time, example solutions will be developed and the opportunities of companies in the wood products industry in North Ostrobothnia to utilize smart technology solutions in their operations will be supported.

In addition, the project aims to strengthen international cooperation and research networks.

Target group

Wood production companies and education and research organizations in Northern Ostrobothnia region.
