Centria UAS open science and research maturity level on the rise

The National Maturity Level Report on Open Science and Research published at the end of October shows that Centria University of Applied Sciences has made progress in the development of open science and research, especially in the areas of learning and organisational culture. Based on the maturity report, Centria is currently rated at level four, with the highest level being five. The results demonstrate Centria’s long-term commitment to promoting open science.

The Finnish scientific community has jointly developed a set of policies for open science and research, the implementation of which is monitored by the Open Science Maturity Measurement. The Maturity Assessment is carried out every two years, the last one in 2022 and the next one in 2026.

Based on the maturity survey, Centria UAS is currently assessed at level 4, with the highest level being level 5. The results show Centria’s long-term commitment to promoting scientific openness.

– Open science and research, development and innovation (RDI) are the elements that ensure the integrity and acceptability of our science and RDI activities. Transparency also ensures that everyone can benefit from the results,” says Marko Forsell, Vice-Rector (RDI).

According to this year’s report, Centria has been successful in improving its practices in learning and organisational culture, which is reflected in a maturity level of four in these areas. In the areas of open science, the level of development in publishing, materials and infrastructure remained at level four. For Materials and Infrastructure, Centria reached the highest level of five.

The monitoring of the maturity measurement of open science is based on the examination of data from research repositories such as research.fi and aoe.fi, as well as on surveys of existing practices, services, guidelines and developments.
