Certificate-based selection

1. Carefully review the eligibility criteria and required documents. Please review the requirements for your country on this page (scroll down). Your eligibility for certificate-based selection in Rolling Admission depends on the country where you completed your upper secondary qualification and whether your qualification meets the requirements.
2. The certificate-based selection is limited to the following countries or areas:
   • EU/EEA countries and Moldova 
   • Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia 
   • Asia: China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam 
   • South and North America:  Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama 

Minimum grade requirements (please note that you can find the country-specific grade requirements below when you scroll down):

• All applicants:
  • English requirement: A grade in English comparable to a US grade B and, in most cases, an English language certificate. Please check the requirements for your country below to see whether a language certificate is required.
  • Academic requirement: An overall GPA comparable to a US grade B. If no overall GPA is stated on the transcript, it will be calculated from the grades listed
• Engineering applicants:
  • Additionally a grade in Mathematics. At intermediate level a grade comparable to US grade B is required. In advanced mathematics a passing grade is accepted.
  • Please note: If the certificate does not include a subject explicitly titled Mathematics, mathematical competence may be demonstrated through relevant quantitative subjects such as: 
  • Statistics, economics, or finance 
  • Accounting, arithmetic, or geometry 
  • Calculus or algebra 
  • Physics or applied mathematics 

3. Prepare the required documents. You will need:

• Educational documents. The required diploma and certificate from one of the eligible countries listed.
  • Those graduating in the summer 2027 are also conditionally eligible and are required to submit the latest certificate of graduation and latest transcript with grades during the application period. The certificate should state that the student will graduate during the summer semester and include the graduation date. The applicant should deliver the final certificate by 9th of July 202715:00 Finnish time (if the certificate is given in another language than in English, you should also have it translated).
• Authorized translation of the educational documents if the originals are not issued in Finnish, Swedish or English. The translation must have the translator’s signature and stamp.
• Acceptable proof of English language skills. Check the country-specific requirements below (scroll down this page).
• Valid ID (passport or accepted ID card). All applicants must upload a copy of passport/official identification card to their application form to confirm the identity in the online interview. Only the following documents are accepted as proof of identity: passport, Finnish identity card with a photo, issued by police, Finnish driver’s licence or another EU/EEA country identity card with a photo. Also, an expired passport or identity card is accepted if its validity is expired on 1.10.2026 the latest. 
• Copy of residence permit. Starting from 1 Jan 2025, applicants from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee in order to apply to higher education studies. If you are from outside the aforementioned area and you are applying to studies in Finland, you will need to pay the application fee. Here you can find out if you are required to pay the application fee.

If you are not eligible to apply in the certificate-based selection, kindly look into the SAT selection or prepare for the joint application round 2027.

• Check the available Bachelor’s degree programmes here. When applying in the certificate-based selection one applicant can apply and be admitted to ONE programme. Study places are filled in order so it is important to pay the application fee as soon as possible. Once all study places in the programme have been filled, applying to the programme is no longer possible.
• The application process takes place at Studyinfo.fi when the application period is ongoing.
• When filling the application form, applicants are advised to double-check if the given postal address is up to date and the given email address is functional. A functional email address is particularly important in order to be able to be contacted later on with decisions and further guidelines. The email address provided in the application form will be taken as the official channel of communication and will not be changed later in the process.
• Pay the application fee if required. Only applications with the required attachments and paid application fees (if required) will be checked and can be considered. Kindly note that applications are reviewed continuously.

• Eligible applicants will be invited to take part in an online interview. Eligible applicants will be invited to the interview as soon as their application has been processed. The interview will test the applicant’s motivation, aptitude for higher education studies and English language skills. The interview will be evaluated on a scale of pass or fail. 
• There will be a few interview windows available each week, to allow for applicants to select the most suitable time for them. 
• If you do not arrive or fail the interview, you cannot apply to another programme and get accepted. The interview time given cannot be changed or rescheduled. 
• Centria will send invitations and instructions to the interview via email as soon as the application has been processed. Please remember to check your junk mail in case the invite has gone there.  

• This application round works on a basis of a rolling admission; eligible students will be accepted already during the application round, on the first-come first-serve basis until all available places are filled. Applicants can be admitted if they submit a valid application, attach required documents, meet eligibility requirements, pay the application fee (if required) and pass the interview. An application is considered complete when Centria UAS has received the application via Studyinfo as well as all required documents.

• If you are required to pay the application fee, your application is considered valid only after the fee has been paid.

• The admission process is based on rolling admission and the number of study places is limited. Once the study places have been filled, new applicants cannot be accepted to study. Applications will be rejected if any of the required attachments are missing at the time of processing. No prior warning will be given to the applicant on when their application is processed.

• Admitted applicants must accept their study place and pay the tuition fee within 28 days of receiving the conditional offer letter.

• An early bird scholarship is offered when accepting the study place and paying the tuition fee within 14 days of receiving the conditional offer letter. The 25% amount is automatically reduced from the tuition fee. More information concerning the tuition fees & scholarships can be found here.

Orientation

Accepted students will receive information regarding the start of studies as soon as they have enrolled as a present student. If you are required to pay the tuition fee, you enroll as present by paying the tuition fee. If you are not required to pay a tuition fee, you must manually complete your enrollment for the academic year in Studyinfo after accepting the study place.

Deadline to arrive on campus

New students who will be admitted to the studies beginning on 1 October 2026 must arrive and register on campus by 7 January 2027. More information about the registration process can be found in the conditional offer letter and here.

If students do not arrive by the given deadline and cannot present their original documents, their student selection will be cancelled.

In case an applicant believes a mistake has been made in student selection, they may file a claim for adjustment after the publication of the student selection results.

Claims for adjustment have to be filed within 14 days after the publication of results. Appeal based on personal circumstances will not be considered as valid reason for appeal. Student admission decision can be changed only in those cases where it is clearly shown that the UAS has not followed the student admission criteria. Therefore, the claim of adjustment must be well-grounded and it should contain accurate information on where the UAS has not followed the criteria.
