Pelipoliisi / The Gaming Police – Policing in the Digital World
What happens when the police step into the world of gaming? Pelipoliisi carries out preventive police work where people are increasingly spending their time – on livestreams, gaming platforms, social media and in online communities.

Please note that the event will be conducted in Finnish.
The presentation offers a glimpse into the everyday work of Pelipoliisi. How do police officers engage with people online? What kinds of phenomena are currently emerging in digital environments, and how can crime and other harmful behaviour be prevented online? We will also explore how trust in the police can be built in entirely new environments, and how people encountered online can, when needed, be guided towards other services and multidisciplinary support.
What kind of skills does this type of work require? Pelipoliisi brings together policing, technology, gaming, communication, social media and, above all, genuine interaction with people.
So, can a police officer also be a streamer? Absolutely. Come and find out what happens when policing moves into the spaces where our digital lives are taking place.
The event is organised by the EU co-funded AIMlearning project. Funding for the project has been granted by the Centre for Economic Development.
Through the AIMlearning project, young people under the age of 29 living in Central Ostrobothnia have the opportunity to develop their skills in learning modules focused on sustainability, well-being, data analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Our goal is to support young people in finding employment that matches their skills or in pursuing further studies.
