The corona pandemic has led to an exceptional opportunity to re-evaluate many practices that were thought to be immutable and to further refine the new operating methods adopted during the crisis, as well as to adopt them more permanently.

Acute needs for new technology-oriented product and service solutions have been identified in the social and healthcare sector, especially in the area of assisted living and home care. The HIPPA-Remote project develops and tests user-oriented remote and hybrid development applications and services in the development of new and innovative digital products and services.

Remote activities improve the equal opportunity for companies and experts to participate in support services regardless of their geographical location, which promotes cost-effectiveness, quality and availability of product development. The project also improves the growth and development opportunities of companies’ business and expertise in the field of social and healthcare, in terms of commercialization, marketing, regulations and factors affecting procurement processes, and creates new business opportunities for companies in various fields related to the digitalization of the social and healthcare.

The aim of the project is:

  1. To support user-oriented, health-safe and resource-wise product development of companies and service providers in the social and health sector by means of remote and hybrid development services.
  2. To create new business opportunities for companies in various fields related to the digitalization of the social and health sector.
  3. To develop digital development environments of higher education institutions, such as simulation and virtual environments and virtual technologies in such a way that they support the digitalization and product development of companies and service providers, and enable rapid trials and testing of products and services developed by companies.
  4. To support companies and social/healthcare service providers to jointly develop digital products and services that improve the safety, accessibility, social contact, maintenance of the resident’s ability to function, as well as the accessibility and cost-effectiveness of services.
  5. To improve the growth and development opportunities of companies’ business and expertise in the healthcare sector in terms of commercialization and marketing, sustainable development and green growth, new business models and factors affecting regulations and procurement processes.

The HIPPA-Remote project is carried out as three independent but interconnected sister projects that cross the borders of three provinces, Central Ostrobothnia (Centria), Pirkanmaa (TAMK) and Uudenmaa (Metropolia).

The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the measures implemented by the European Union due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
