Centria Introduces Four New Programs in the Spring Joint Application Period

Centria University of Applied Sciences has expanded its educational offerings for the spring joint application periods, introducing a total of four new degree programs leading to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Centria University of Applied Sciences is providing even more diverse study opportunities through these new programs. The educational offerings now include new programs for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

A significant addition is the English-language Bachelor’s Degree Program in Industrial Management, set to launch in Pietarsaari. This program is designed to address the region’s growing skills shortage in the industrial sector by preparing future professionals to meet local industry needs.

Meanwhile, on the Ylivieska campus, a blended learning program Bachelor of Health Care, Nursing aimed at practical nurses will begin next autumn. This program, which focuses on expanding nursing skills to meet the requirements of registered nurses, is a new initiative within health education. Students can complete the degree in three years.

– The new bachelor’s degree programs have been designed in response to requests and needs from working life. Many professionals wish to enhance their expertise, and blended learning programs provide excellent opportunities for this. Employers also play a key role in the design of these programs and in supporting students, as the skills gained during studies benefit not only individuals but also workplaces and the entire region, explains Jennie Elfving, Vice Rector of Education.

Centria’s blended learning programs are primarily delivered online but include some in-person sessions. A variety of pedagogical methods enable individualized study paths tailored to students’ diverse needs.

Centria Master School’s selection of master’s degree programs will expand in the spring joint application period with two new offerings. A completely new program, the Master’s Degree in Data Analytics and Leadership, integrates data analytics, leadership, and the application of data and AI to support management and business development.

– Effectively leveraging data and AI is becoming increasingly critical in business operations and for developing competitiveness. At the same time, there is a growing need for strong leadership in this new environment. Our new Master’s program aims to address these interconnected opportunities and challenges, says Senior Lecturer Marko Ovaskainen.

Additionally, the Modern Cultural Production program will now also be available as a Master’s degree for business professionals. This program focuses on business management and allows students to deepen their expertise in cultural production and business development.

– By expanding the Modern Cultural Production Master’s program, we aim to promote business skills in the field of cultural production. Combined with creativity and an understanding of the unique characteristics of the cultural sector, this can support the development, renewal, and commercialization of diverse cultural offerings, Ovaskainen adds.

Centria’s music pedagogy program (bachelor’s degree) is also being updated with a new specialization option when the first students focusing on Näppäri pedagogy will begin their studies in autumn 2025.

Applications for Centria’s Finnish-language bachelor’s and master’s degree programs are open during the second spring joint application period from 11 to 25 March 2025. The application period for English-language bachelor’s degree programs ends on 22 January 2025.
