About the project

The aim of the project “Innovative solutions for the office of the future” is to anchor innovative methods based on outdoor office concepts to promote creativity, work motivation and, in the long term, promote the occupational health of “knowledge workers” in Ostrobothnia.

Innovative solutions for the office of the future is an ESF+ funded two-year project with the aim of developing a co-produced concept for sustainable outdoor offices that is regionally adapted to Ostrobothnian conditions. The potential of utilizing outdoor environments as part of the work environment is great: it is cost-effective, based on research and can in the long term lead to increased occupational health, increased job satisfaction, increased creativity and increased motivation of workers – and a strengthened productivity and competitiveness of companies.

Through the project, research-based knowledge about the positive impact of outdoor environments on health, creativity and cognitive processes will be highlighted and implemented by employers. The project will provide employers and companies in Ostrobothnia with knowledge and inspiration to adopt new ways of working that promote sustainable and long-term health, creativity and work motivation among employees.

The project is divided into three actions:

  1. Training for companies and other employers/organizations in the form of lectures and workshops to increase the knowledge of company and organizational management about the potential of outdoor offices through further training based on evidence-based material, develop concrete working methods for individuals and work communities, anchor alternative meeting techniques and discuss the implementation possibilities in their own organization.
  2. Develop a co-produced concept for a sustainable office, which constitutes a regional model adapted to the Ostrobothnian region.
  3. Information packages for employers (companies, municipalities, educational organizations) are produced to disseminate knowledge and inspire also those companies and organizations in the region that have not been directly involved in the project.
